In the event of heavy snow we will always do our very best to keep the school open. Having said this, our primary consideration must always be for the safety of children, staff and visitors and whether or not the Emergency Services can reach the school if we need them.
The decision to close the school is taken in consultation with the Chair of the Governing Body and the Local Authority. These decisions are not taken lightly and are often made following a recommendation from the Local Authority or as a result of warnings from the police, transport authorities or Met Office. In the event of snow closure, we will always endeavour to make a decision by 7.30am.
During bad weather, please always check the school website BEFORE you make your journey to school.
If we do need to close the school you will be informed via the following methods:
- An email message will be sent to parents via School Comms.
- Our school website: www.cannonlaneprimary.org will be updated and information will be on the main Home page under Latest News.
During adverse weather, please send your child to school wearing suitable shoes or boots, coat, hat and gloves and bring school shoes in a separate bag.
