    Mon 12 Jun 2023

Here is the very first edition of our new newsletter written by the children of Cannon Lane - the Cannon Lane Chronicle!

In this newsletter, you will find fun articles to read, puzzles to complete and exciting competitions to take part in (plus much more).

I wanted to say a huge congratulations to the children in years 3 - 6 who have worked incredibly hard to produce this newsletter and a big thank you to Mrs Lad (a 4S parent) who put the children's writing into the fantastic format that you can see!

We hope you enjoy (and look forward to our future editions)!

  • Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship School

    Mon 20 Jan 2020

At the end of December we were assessed once again against the Inclusion Quality Mark Standards and were delighted to be re-accredited as a Flagship School.  This is an excellent achievement and a recognition of our commitment to being an inclusive school and one in which the teaching and learning; achievements, attitudes and well-being of every child matters.

    The report stated that:

“The atmosphere in the school during the IQM visit was an absolute joy to experience. The school is a welcoming and an inclusive place to learn. There is a true sense of drive, determination and ambition amongst the leaders which ensures all staff and learners are engaged and focussed encouraging a strong sense of belief and instilling trust and collaboration throughout the school amongst its community. Structures and processes ensure positive outcomes for all pupils in terms of their academic and personal development within an environment that can only be described as supportive, happy and aspirational for both staff and pupils.”

A summary of the report can be found here.

  • Sunday Times Top 250 State Primary Schools

Top 250 State Primary Schools in England

    (Source: Sunday Times – 17th November 2019)

Without wanting to place too much emphasis on league tables, we were delighted that Cannon Lane Primary School was recognised in The Sunday Times on 17th November in an article entitled ‘The top state primary schools’.  Schools were ranked by the aggregated scaled scores achieved by children in reading, grammar and maths from Sats taken in 2018.  Where scores were tied, the number of pupils achieving these results was used as a separator.

Using these results, Cannon Lane School was ranked 135= out of approximately 21000 state primary schools in England.  This is an excellent achievement and a very positive reflection on the hard work that takes place both in school and at home.   I’m sure that you’ll agree that these are results to be very proud of!
