The School Day
8.30am – Children arrive at school and are supervised on the playground by school staff. Children should not be in school before 8.30am
8.45am – The bell will ring and children from Years 3 to 6 will line up in class groups and taken into class for registration
8.50am – The bell will ring and Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children will line up in class groups and taken into class for registration . Gates to the playground will be locked from 8.50am and after this time children should report to the school office.
10.15am – 10.30am: Morning break time for Years 1, 2, 3 & 4
10.40am – 10.55am: Morning break time for Years 5 & 6
11.45am – 12.45pm: Lunch break for Reception children and Years 3 & 4
12.15pm– 1.15pm: Lunch break for children in Years 1 & 2 and Years 5 & 6
2.10pm – 2.20pm: KS1 afternoon break
3.10pm – End of the school day for Reception and KS1
3.15pm – End of the school day for KS2
Register of Attendance
Electronic SIMs registers are used throughout the school. Registers are legal documents which have to be recorded accurately.
Foreseen absences should be reported to class teachers by letter in advance of the absence day. Unexpected absences should be reported to the office at the start of the day. Office staff will aim to telephone families by 9.15am if a child is absent from school and no message has been received regarding the absence.
In accordance with the Education Act 1988, Acts of Worship are held on a daily basis.
- Monday – ‘Values’ assembly led by member of Senior Leadership Team
- Tuesday – Phase Assembly led by class teachers
- Wednesday – Singing Assembly led by Music Teacher
- Thursday – Class Assemblies -each class leads one assembly per year for classes in their phase. Parents and grandparents are welcome to attend
- Friday – Achievement Assembly
In the event of bad weather at the start of the school day, children will be allowed into their classrooms from 8.30am. Teachers will be in their classrooms ready to supervise children by 8.30am.
If it is wet play, teachers will supervise children in classrooms and will provide wet playtime equipment to play with.
The End of the School Day
All children should be collected from the playground by their parents or carers. Children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 handed over into the care of a parent or carer from their classrooms. Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 will come out from their designated exits into the playground. Generally only Year 6 children are allowed to walk home on their own (although children are always encouraged to walk with a friend or a known adult). A written permission must be received in order for a child to walk home alone.
Any children attending after-school clubs will be collected from their classroom by the club leader or a Teaching Assistant. Teachers will maintain a list of names for each club.
Any children not collected at the end of the school day should be taken to the school office.
