If a child arrives to school after the gates have been locked they need to report to school via the Main Reception. They will need to sign in and give a reason for the delay in arriving to school. Arrivals after 9.30 a.m. will be marked in the register as unauthorised.
We would prefer routine medical appointments to be made outside school hours as much as possible. Where they have to be made in school time, please complete a 'request for absence' form – attaching a copy of the appointment letter or card – otherwise this may be classed as an unauthorised absence.
Please collect your child from the main reception, where you will be asked to sign them out. When they return to school after an appointment, please come with them to Reception to sign your child back in. If your child is coming into school after an appointment and will miss the morning register, please notify the office if you require a hot meal before 9.00 a.m. on the day, so that the kitchen can be informed, or provide your child with packed lunch.
If your child is absent from school, we ask you please to telephone the school office absence line before 9.00 a.m. on the first day that your child is absent (tel: 0208 866 3536) to let us know what is wrong, please be specific as unwell, not well and sick are not sufficient for our records. If your child has vomited or had diarrhoea, you must keep them at home for 48 hours from the last bout of vomiting or diarrhoea.
If we do not hear from you regarding your child we will ring the numbers we have on file to enquire the whereabouts of your child. Please do not email the office, as sometimes the emails are not picked up early enough and you may still receive a call. Please send an explanation in writing to the class teacher on their return, without this the absence may be classified as unauthorised.
If you do need to take your child out of school during term time for any reason please complete a 'Request for Absence' form, which can be found on our website here. If you are planning a family holiday please refer to our term dates, which can be found on our website here.
Holiday requests during term time will not be authorised, as there is a legal requirement for parents/carers to ensure their children attend school daily and will be recorded on your child’s attendance register as a 'G'. If you request holiday during term time we may have to refer the absence to Harrow who may issue a fixed penalty fine. For more details please see our Attendance Policy on our website here.
