Dear Parents and Carers,
No doubt you will be aware that the Government has announced that there will be a General Election on Thursday 12th December.
Further to this, we have been contacted by the Democratic Services team from Harrow Council and have been informed that Cannon Lane School will be used as a polling station on this day (as it has been in the past).
As Cannon Lane is a Local Authority maintained school, the building is owned by the Local Authority and therefore we have very little say in this decision.
Due the high number of voters that are anticipated to be on site on this day, I regret to inform you that it will be necessary for the school to be closed to children on Thursday 12th December. I recognise that this is short notice and that this is likely to cause some disruption for working parents. We apologise for this.
Parents of children in Year 3 will note that this also affects the plans for the Year 3 Christmas performance as this was arranged for the morning of 12th December. The Year 3 Performance will now take place on the afternoon on Friday 13th December starting at 2.15pm.
Once again, I apologise that it has been necessary to make these changes and appreciate your understanding.
Mr A Phillips
