Poetry by Heart Celebration
We are delighted to share that every child at Cannon Lane has spent the past few weeks learning and performing a poem. Learning poetry by heart and presenting it aloud is a valuable skill that strengthens children’s confidence and enhances their oracy.
Each class selected one pupil to perform in our Achievement Assembly, and from these impressive performances, four winners were chosen to represent our school at the Celebration of Poetry event at Pinner High. All seven schools in our cluster took part, with pupils showcasing their wonderful poetry performances.
During the event, the children were also treated to a special visit from poet Mark Rice‑Oxley, who shared some of his own inspiring work. Our pupils represented Cannon Lane brilliantly, and we are incredibly proud of them. You can watch their poetry performances here.
